Kaija Straumanis’s Headshots Are High-Art Schadenfreude

Photography hobbyist Kaija Straumanis seems to have found a happy medium between the Jackass-style “Ha ha, you got hurt!” aesthetic and Instagram-inflected high photography. In the series she’s labeled “headshots,” the camera goes off at just the right time to catch a surprisingly serene moment of impact between Straumanis’s head and various objects, which is fun for the viewer at least. (Spoilers: If you want to ruin the magic, you can find out how Straumanis got these shots here.)
