Paris Carney: “Astronaut”

L.A. singer/songwriter Paris Carney is the sister of broadway actor Reeve Carney, who is best known for playing Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. She’s also married to Greg Garbowski of Ocean Grove and the Jonas Brothers, BFF’s with underrated singer/songwriter Katelyn Tarver, and the great-niece of The Honeymooners’ Art Carney. But she’s also worth being known all on her own, and her new single “Astronaut” will surely convince you of that. The track, produced by Garbowski, is just as spacey as its title would lead you to believe. With a sparse electro-pop arrangement, Carney delivers her sublime melodies with poise and power. On her Facebook page, she describes herself as “if Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell had a baby raised by Andre 3000 + a laptop.” I’m not sure it’s the most accurate description,  but there’s definitely something special about Paris Carney.

You can download “Astronaut” and Carney’s debut single, “It’s Always The Quiet Ones,” for free on SoundCloud.
