Dana Falconberry: “Palmless”

After her folksy Leelanau, the awesomely-named Austin singer/songwriter Dana Falconberry moves in a different direction for her new single “Palmless.” The track is the second release in Jim Eno’s Public Hi-Fi’s Sessions Singles Series, following Sondre Lerche’s “Rejection #5.” Collaborating with the Spoon drummer, the song blends Falconberry’s keen songwriting and guitar playing with crisp electronic drums. As her cool and breathy vocals compete with the nervous percussion, the arrangement builds with subtle strings and a siren-like synth bass. These strange combinations give the song a haunted, restless quality, like when you’re lying still at night trying to fall asleep but your mind won’t stop racing.

The song, along with a B-side, “Seven Hills,” will be released on a 12″ vinyl for Record Store Day (April 19).
