“The Writers” by Megan Herbert
Illustrator Megan Herbert is also a writer, and so she probably has first-hand experience with the themes she cheekily pokes fun at in her comic “The Writers.” Originally published in Ókeipiss, the comic pokes fun at the modern day social media savvy, identity-conscious writer, the type who’s good at being a writer except when it comes to the whole writing part. You’ve probably encountered one: aspiring writer with impeccable social media presence, a snappy outfit, a typewriter, detailed character outlines, and yet no finished drafts. Equal parts snarky and clever, Herbert shows a side to writing that we’re all too familiar with. But hey, what is art if you can’t make fun of yourself a little?
