Verdigrls: “Feeling Nervous”
Last year, we shared “Heartbreak Hour,” a dark electro-pop song from Verdigrls. Now the duo of sisters is preparing the release of their debut EP for Manimal Vinyl. To give us a glimpse at what to expect from the EP, Verdigrls have put out a music video for their single “Feeling Nervous.” The track captures their unique aesthetic with bubbling synths and stately string melodies. With the sisters’ haunting vocal harmonies and the pulsating beat, “Feeling Nervous” has a captivating and hypnotic charm. The surreal video, directed by Rachel and Chris Greco, brings out this charm with footage of the sisters playing with kitschy novelty items, sloppily eating burgers and fries, and hacking at a treasure chest with an ax. I’m not sure there’s any literal connection to the song, but its tone matches beautifully. It’s a song about self-doubt, where the chorus proclaims, “I’m not good at these kinds of things,” but the quality of the song assures us that the Verdigrls are good at one thing, which is producing great music.
Keep an eye out for the yet-to-be-titled debut EP from Verdigrls coming later this spring. They’re also great on Twitter, so be sure to follow them.
