Rezoning Bushwick: A Case Study in Gentrification and Resistance

A lot of talk about gentrification understandably focuses on the cultural clash aspects of “changing the neighborhood” and all that, but it rarely cuts to the economic substance of the issue, especially the role of landowners and the state. Rezoning Bushwick stands as a useful corrective to this. Technically well-shot, carefully explained, and featuring a range of interviews with residents, Rongfei Guo‘s presentation leaves little to be desired, clearly highlighting the threat of developments for the rich to everyone else, as well as what is being done in response.
