Shakespeare and Other Plays Retold in Three-Panel Comics

Anyone who has read, well, any Shakespeare play knows that sometimes the over-meandering plots are in need of a good summary. But librarian/blogger/Shakespeare enthusiast Mya Gosling takes it one step further: she manages to reduce Shakespeare (and other plays) to little three-panel comics. For example, curious about the plot of Julius Caesar?

Cassius and Brutus assassinate Julius Caesar. Marc Anthony gives a really big speech. Cassius and Brutus kill themselves.

Yep, that’s pretty much how I remember it. The simple, stripped-down approach to the summaries are what make them hilarious but, at the same time, weirdly accurate. Although not three-panels, her summary of Beowulf is probably my favorite, mostly because it sums up everything I hated about that novel poem. I included a few other favorites in the gallery above. If you like her three-panel comics, she also has longer comic adaptions of King Lear, Coriolanus, and others.
