Taylor McFerrin: “The Antidote (ft. Nai Palm)”

If you’re thinking to yourself “McFerrin like Bobby McFerrin?”, the answer is “yes.” But while Taylor McFerrin is the son of legendary singer Bobby McFerrin, he’s continuing to prove that he can stand on his own. To give us a preview of his upcoming debut full-length album Early Riser, McFerrin has released “The Antidote.” The track features Nai Palm of Australian group Hiatus Kaiyote singing over McFerrin’s imaginative beat. She adds ecstatic melodies to go along with McFerrin’s hypnotic psychedelia-meets-broken-beat instrumental, creating a sound that’s unique and wonderful. The song fades out on a chorus of layered vocal melodies and swirling guitars and basses, leaving us wanting more.

And we’ll get more on June 3rd when Early Riser is released via Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label.
