One Illustrator’s Love for the Band Cibo Matto Gets Depicted in Comic Form

Illustrator Sophia Foster-Dimino was in college when a friend suggested for her to check out the band Cibo Matto. The Japanese duo, featuring Yuka Honda on keyboard and Miho Hatori on vocals, became her favorite band. Although the band broke up after their second album, they recently united in 2012 and released their first album in over ten years, Hotel Valentine. In this colorful comic, which was published in The Pitchfork Review, Foster-Dimino cheekily summarizes her love for her all-time favorite band. From college discovery to a surprisingly in-depth analysis of Cibo Matto’s “Sugar Water” video, Foster-Dimino’s short comic illustrates that magical, child-like feeling of being a lifetime fan.
