Am I Next?: Ferguson’s Protests Through the Eyes of a Teenager
For weeks, Americans have been following the ongoing chaos in Ferguson, Missouri with horror. But the experience is even more intense for the people who live there. In this short documentary produced by Transient Pictures for TIME, we follow Shane Flowers, a 14-year-old teen protesting the death of Mike Brown, an unarmed black teen shot by police on August 9. Deeply disturbed by Brown’s death, Flowers takes to the streets to let his voice be heard. However, the most interesting part of the documentary is witnessing the generational gap between young and old protesters. Toward the end of the video, Flowers receives advice from an older man who tells him that being angry only works if the anger is channeled into something productive. Which is advice Flowers quickly takes too heed.
