Yamantaka//Sonic Titan’s Brendan Swanson Plays Chopin, Rachmaninoff on Piano

During a time where most bands are the “pick up and go” type music learners, it’s always surprising when you find one that’s actually classically trained. Brendan Swanon is the keyboardist for Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, an incredible tribal rock band/art collective that received lots of critical praise for 2013′s Uzu. If you want to check out their music, “Hoshi Neko”  or “Queens” is a good place to start. Anyway, in this video we’re treated to Swanson playing Rachmaninoff’s “Étude-Tableaux Op. 39 No. 6″ in a dark room illuminated by a MIDI light system. The video was shot as part of an Indiegogo campaign where Swanson was offering piano lessons to donors. Unfortunately, the campaign never reached its goal, but at least it resulted in this awesome video. Don’t forget to watch the other two videos like this, too.
