Li Xi: “Carriages”

San Francisco pop quintet Li Xi is prepping their upcoming debut album Meet Me Somewhere. To get us ready, the band has released lead single “Carriages,” a synth-covered vintage pop song that captures the odd spirit of their debut 7″ “Macro Garden / Red Spells.” Anchored by a fuzzy synth-bass and busy percussion, the song slowly unfolds in long melodies traded between guitar and vocals. Musically it’s reminiscent of late-’60s chamber pop groups like The Zombies but with a distinctly modern edge in the production. Just barely two minutes in length, “Carriage” manages to completely envelop you in its world and make you wish it was at least twice as long. But I suppose that’s what the replay button is for!

Meet Me Somewhere will be released on October 15, but you can pre-order it here now.
