PINS: “Come Back”

After releasing their debut album Girls Like Us earlier this year, Manchester-based retro pop band PINS is back with a new single. “Come Back” will be featured on a Cassette Store Day-only release, but if that’s not your scene, it comes as a music video as well. Directed by Amy Watson, the video starts with a stagehand on a variety TV show looking for the band, running into some interesting characters along the way. After the host introduces them, PINS comes onstage for their vintage sounding pop song. “Come Back” has traces of Phil Spector and The Shangri Las mixed with a modern, stripped-down style that’s balanced out by an unaffected, emotionless performance. But with unusual chords, changes of tempo, and a delightfully catchy chorus, “Come Back” is highly expressive despite their cool demeanor in the video.

“Come Back” will be released as the A-side of a cassette single for Cassette Store Day, but be sure to check out Girls Like Us as well.
