Rare Photos of Kate Bush as a Young Girl
The past decade has been exciting for fans of legendary singer Kate Bush. After entering a life of seclusion after the release of 1993′s The Red Shoes, she returned in 2005 with the release Aerial, and later, the critically acclaimed 50 Words for Snow. In 2014, she went on her first tour in more than 20 years, playing 22 sold out shows at Hammersmith Apollo. This new, invigorated interest in Kate’s career has, of course, resulted in the usual corporate knee-jerk: new reissues of old material.
One of these reissues include Cathy, a collection of black and white photos of Kate when she was 8 years old taken by her brother, photographer John Carder Bush. The original book, published in 1986, was considered a rarity, with only 500 copies printed. The new reissue will stay pretty much the same, but will include eight new photos.
“Much has changed since these photographs were taken, some almost twenty years ago,” John Carder Bush told Another Magazine. ”The sudden introduction of fame into a human unit forces decision and action, and they change people. But still in the photographs is the ‘now’ as well, and for those that know the later images of Kate there is much to recognize.”
