Mass Storytelling Project “Think of a City” Explores the Concrete Jungle One Page at a Time
When it comes to storytelling, the city is more than just a backdrop. Often times it’s a character itself, providing conflict, light-heartedness, and sometimes even emotion. Mass storytelling project Think of a City explores the personification of cities, creating a collaborative story told one page at a time by a different contributor. The story is non-linear, focusing less on plots and characters and more on how the city is a driving narrative force on its own. “Comics provide linear stories,” they write on their blog, “but the urban environment is something different: non linear, multi-layered, complex, communal. We’d like to prove that cities are so much more than cityscapes.” So far hundreds of contributors have participated, and the submissions range from superheroes flying through skyscrapers to slice-of-life portrayals of everyday life. Want to get involved? They’re still taking submissions.
