“Orion Trail” Is like Oregon Trail…in Space!
Confession time: while I’ve been a geek and a nerd and a dork from the day I was born, my tastes have always skewed towards unicorns and dragons and people stabbing each other to death with swords. Star Trek, Star Wars, Battleship Galactica, and all the other sci-fi space-oriented tales have never really made much of an impression on me. So, with that in mind, I apologize a lot if I missed any Star Trek references in Orion Trail.
Basically, it’s Star Trek meets Oregon Trail. Select from a bevy of ships, captains, and first officers before embarking on a mission that spans the galaxies. Missions are randomly generated and throw up obstacles like…mysterious illnesses, Cthulian aliens, weird parties, and eternal abysses. Survival depends on your choices and provisions, all of course done with that special sci-fi twist.
If you’re looking for a new take on an old game, Orion Trail has got you covered. And, hey, considering we’re currently in the process of selecting 24 colonists to go to Mars, who knows? Orion Trail may be in our future after all.
(If you’ve enjoyed the game, you might want to head over to their Kickstarter and support them!)
