Yayoi Kusama’s Speckled Landscapes
Yayoi Kusama works with polka-dots on the regular, but she’s no Roy Lichtenstein. While her artwork started with painting polka dots (pointillism fans, anyone?), it has progressed in tenfold since her earlier days, leaving the canvas and taking on the form of installation. Kusama, who hails from Japan, has had her work shown around the entire world, never ceasing to impress art lovers by providing immersive experiences that create three-dimensional spaces of color, shape, and most importantly, feeling. You may feel like you’re at a birthday party with too much confetti, in Minnie Mouse’s playroom, or just on a really bad trip…. but chances are, you’re feeling something.
