Insanely Detailed Bic Pen Drawings

Ahh, Bic pens. The cheap pens that seem to barely work while doing even the most menial of tasks, like jotting down notes or doodling penises on your sleeping friend’s face. Fortunately, London-based artist Mark Powell has found a muse in Bic, using the cheap pens to draw incredibly detailed sketches that range from animals and biology to David Bowie. What makes Powell slightly different from other Bic artists is the canvas he chooses to do his drawings on, which range from old post cards to vintage book covers to even old copies of National Geographic. The juxtaposition between the old and new creates an interesting dynamic that’s wholly unique, like flipping through the pages of an old text book doodled on by an eccentric, reclusive teenager. Whatever these drawings say to you, you have to admit they make Bic look good–for once.
