Artist Spotlight: Manabu Ikeda
On first impression, Manabu Ikeda’s drawings look like they belong in a story book. There’s a lot of creativity in his work, and his meticulous obsession with detail truly brings out his imagination. Ikeda uses a technique that’s so detailed that it usually takes him a few years to finish a single drawing, finishing only a few inches of a drawing each day. His most recent work, Meltdown, addresses the 2011 Great East Earthquake in Japan, and an exhibit with the same name is currently on display at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
