Tereu Tereu: “Gratitude”
Straight from the ’90s, this new Tereu Tereu song is filled with noisy guitars, loud drums, and a very dry sense of humor. The D.C. natives sing a repetitive melody expressing their “gratitude” to America for things such as, “letting me eat human food,” “having black friends,” and “for asking about my weekend plans.” Like good Weezer or Ben Folds Five, the song falls into a strange place between sincerity and sarcasm. It operates as humor, yes, but it’s also a great song.
The duo is releasing their new album, Quadrants, on September 24th via their own Bad Friends Records.
