Verdigrls: “Heartbreak Hour”

Making loneliness an art since 2012,” the Verdigrls are two young sisters from Connecticut who make haunting electronic music, with echoes of ’60s girl groups and Morrissey, with a classical sensibility. Both sisters are classically trained string players, and their idiosyncratic dark electronic music reflects this. So far, the duo has only released four tracks (including an awesome cover of Daft Punk’s Doin’ It Right), and their most recent track “Heartbreak Hour” should be enough to make you a fan. The song uses reverbed layers of strings mixed with their emotive synth pads and drum beat to accompany the haunting, dreamy vocals. At almost five minutes, it’s easy to slip inside the sound of the song and get lost in the sisters’ layers of harmonies.

Keep an eye out for more from Verdigrls on their facebook, tumblr, twitter, and bandcamp.
