This Crowdsourced Collection of Original Cover Art Re-imagines the Classics

A year ago the word “crowdsourcing” would have made most people roll their eyes, but today the idea of people coming together to work collaboratively has bypassed its original intention (cheap labor). Recovering the Classics  is a crowdsourced collection of original cover art for classic works of fiction. Anyone is free to contribute, and artists receive 40% of the sales revenue if people like and buy their design.

The campaign is part of the Creative Action Network, a site that crowdsources creative content from artists around the world, most with a mission-driven context. From projects that promote gun safety to posters that provide inspiration, CAN has managed to make crowdsourcing not only cool again but socially conscious.
