Video from The Cool Kids Turns Chicago into an Animated Masterpiece
The always-cool alternative rap duo The Cool Kids don’t break too many musical boundaries in their single “Rush Hour Traffic,” off last year’s When Fish Ride Bicycles. Their flow moves at about the same pace as their breakout EP The Bake Sale from a few years earlier. But the video stands out visually, thanks to some vibrant animation from Elliot Lim, Jason Esser and Adam Kemnitzer. Creative and dynamic, worlds of anthropomorphized breakfast food and over-the-top muscle cars burst in and out of existence, transforming what would otherwise be a run-of-the-mill “We’re rapping, like, in our city!” video into a visual masterpiece.
