Nine Stories is J.D. Salinger’s famous collection of short stories (the most well-known one, A Perfect Day for Bananafish, is available in its entirety online). Freelance artist/illustrator Johnny Ruzzo created these colorful illustrations to go along with each short story. Ruzzo used graphite and acrylic to achieve the look, and each illustration is available to buy via Behance.

Order of appearance in slideshow: A Perfect Day for Bananafish, Uncle Wiggily in Connecticut, Just Before the War with the Eskimos, The Laughing Man, Down at the Dinghy, For Esmé—with Love and Squalor, Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes, De Damier-Smith’s Blue Period, Teddy.
