Here’s What Happens When You Make a Haunted House in the Whitney Museum

A lot of people might find inviting a bunch of teenagers to an art museum a recipe for disaster. But under the direction of artist Tom Thayer, teenagers were the raw ingredients for something that was part performance art and part “happening.” In this clip, students from the Whitney Museum of American Art work with Thayer on a project that gives them free reign over a studio space with the stipulation that their actions are to be solidly grounded in the present. It’s actually kind of hard to explain succinctly, but it’s definitely worth watching to see what young people do when you let them have free reign.
