Play This Minimal Psycho-Strategy Game in Your Browser
Gods Will Be Watching is a point-and-click strategy game of sorts. Created for the game jam Ludum Dare 26, which had “minimalism” for its theme, the game is short and definitely minimalistic, with only one scene and very few actions you can take. You are tasked with protecting a few survivors, including a doctor, a psychiatrist, a soldier, an engineer, a dog, and a robot, which is the only character you can be assured won’t die. Your main goal is to fix the radio to call for help by the 40th day, but it’s far more likely your entire crew will die within a couple weeks than that your time will run out. There is a delicate balance you need to maintain, keeping your crew fed, healthy, and sane with only five actions a day to work with. You have to keep a close eye on the survivors and your stocks to make sure you don’t overlook anything, while still making sure to make some progress on the radio. I’ve tried the game quite a few times, but haven’t yet seen a happy ending.
You can play the original, one-scene version of Gods Will Be Watching in your browser, but there’s also an expanded adventure that was funded on indiegogo, expected for release in early 2014 for PC, Mac, and Linux.
