Bryan Stokely’s Street Photography
San-Francisco based photographer Bryan Stokely is a master of irony. His street photos are not only beautiful but also clever in the way they point out contradictions–an old woman wobbling past a “Hey, lady” sign, a man smoking near a mural of a man smoking–and he seems to be a master at being at the right place at the right time. The best thing about his photography is that it bypasses the standard “the city is beautiful” aesthetic that plagues most photographers. Instead, his work points out interesting subjects and situations that reflect the overall oddness of the city. And he doesn’t stay in one place. From San Francisco to Tokyo, Stokely captures the energy of cities from across the world.
