Aaron Jasinski Explores Candy Flavors in “Eye Candy”
“I think all great art says something about being human,” says artist/illustrator Aaron Jasinski. “Artist and audience work together to discover what is being said.” Jasinski’s new series Eye Candy is definitely one that’ll be up for viewers to decipher. His usual attention to detail is more apparent than ever as he creates a bubbly, candy-filled dream world where beautiful women have chocolate for hair and killer whales swim in seas full of licorice. Of course, there’s also the obvious social commentary here about over-consumption, but Jasinski isn’t the type of artist to be heavy-handed in his messages. He has a playful aesthetic that matches his love for pop culture and robots, and his child-like imagination and style always makes his pieces a treat to see (pun intended).
He’ll be showing his work at the “Crazy4Cult” exhibition at Gallery 1988 on October 18.
