“Film Swaps” Series Merges Photography from People Around the World
In the art world, the phrase “double exposure” is usually met with a sigh and an eye roll. But photographer Samantha Ann Francis is using the technique in a different way: to bridge people together. Her Film Swaps project takes photos from other film photographers around the world and merges them together. The effect is a cultural melting pot that meshes Thailand’s busy streets with Singapore’s shopping malls. Anyone can participate, and the ongoing series shows how beautiful exposure photography can be when given a clever context.
