Genders: “Something To Get You By”

Genders: “Something To Get You By”

Portland rock quartet Genders will release their first full-length album this December before heading out on the road with Built To Spill. Before all that happens though, here’s their first single from Get Lost, the noisy shoe-gazing track “Something To Get You By.” Opening with a wall of harsh guitar noise, the chaos slowly clears to reveal Maggie Morris’s quiet, introspective vocals over dark guitar chords. As the track continues on, it ebbs and flows, building intensity and then releasing the tension over the almost six-minutes of music. The sound is a bit darker than the jangly twee of some of their earlier releases this year, and it fits nicely with the changing seasons. Until Get Lost is released on December 8th, “Something To Get You By” is definitely, you know… something to get us by.

Be sure to check out their 7″ from earlier this year and EP from last year while you prepare for Get Lost.
