Marika Hackman: “Itchy Teeth”

After this year’s That Iron Taste, London-based singer/songwriter Marika Hackman will release her next effort this December, the Sugar Blind EP. We’ve already gotten a taste of the EP with the ominous “Cinnamon,” and now we have another reason to get excited, “Itchy Teeth.” Now, normally itchy teeth wouldn’t be something to get excited about, but in this case, it’s anything but unpleasant. The song is built around Hackman’s characteristic vocals and electric guitar, with added swells of strings and thickly layered voices. She has an idiosyncratic but catchy chorus of “hold me for an hour,” as the textures surround her, fulfilling her request (at least for the 3:37 of the song).

Be sure to pre-order the Sugar Blind EP on iTunes before its December 9th release via Dirty Hit.
