A Ridiculously Adorable Look at the Microbes in (and on) Our Bodies
Now this is what edutainment is all about, folks. New to NPR’s Vimeo channel is The Invisible Universe of the Human Microbiome, an animation that depicts a fanciful take on the life and times of the various microscopic life forms that live with us—no, seriously, like attached to us—day in and day out. You may have heard some of the central bits of information in this video before: there are around ten times as many non-human cells in our bodies as human ones, many of the microbes in us are actually helpful, etc. etc. But the visual charm that animator Ben Arthur brings to the table is absolutely the highlight here. I don’t always call things cute, but when I do, I mean it. Kid (and adult) friendly!
