DZO Olivier’s “Inkstinctive” Shows the Beauty of Mistakes

Drawing 101 teaches us that the first step to drawing is sketching an outline first in pencil. But French illustrator Dzo Olivier decided to be daring. What if he created an illustration without sketching first? And to heighten the challenge, why not ditch the pencil and eraser too? His Inkstinctive series is a collection of works drawn under these strict stipulations. “Every mistake is an opportunity to create unexpected images,” he explains on his Behance page. The results are gorgeous, surrealist drawings that twist and turn in odd ways. There are two parts to the series, a part one and a part two, but we included some of our favorite pieces in the gallery above.
