Danielle Grubb: “Animals”
If you haven’t checked out Danielle Grubb, a New York via Texas singer/songwriter, now’s the time. After a string of EPs and LPs, all written, recorded, and mixed by Grubb herself, her newest offering “Animals” might be her best yet. The Miguel-esque track mixes the smooth indie-RnB texture with a rock energy. Grubb’s modest vocals weave in and out of the dense arrangement of organ, pounding drums, and effected guitars while she sings about giving into animalistic urges. To match, the video features Grubb as a server to a young upscale couple at a fancy restaurant. I know you’re asking yourself, “Is there a food fight?” Well, yes, of course there’s a food fight! And who doesn’t love a video with a food fight!
If you buy “Animals” on Bandcamp, it comes with an extended version of the song and a special remix! You can also check out all of Danielle Grubb’s other music on her website.
