Dinner Parties Get Rudely Disrupted in “Meals Interrupted”
“It’s like raaaiiiiin on your wedding day!” Just like the wise/un-ironic words from Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic,” there is nothing more unfortunate than having a party ruined by rain, or by a bee attack, or by a mafia hit. But that’s what husband-and-wife photographers Davide Luciano and Claudia Ficca set out to create in Meals Interrupted, a photo series that shows dining tables being disrupted by various catastrophes, like a fire or a cafeteria food fight. Ficca, who specializes in food photography, styled the food while Luciano took the photos. The result is a tongue-in-cheek look at how the unusualness of situations can shape a narrative.
On their Behance page they explain the concept behind the series: “Each shot vividly captures the disappointment and sense of abandonment that evidently accompanies a gathering that is suddenly and unexpectedly ended.” For more unusual food photography, we recommend you check out Ficca’s portfolio. Go ahead and see for yourself. Don’t let this be the good advice that you just didn’t take.
