For those looking to sink their teeth into a more whimsical fantasy series, make sure you check out the book trailer for The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There, which was written by author Catherynne M. Valente. This novel is the second in the ‘Fairyland’ series, which originally started off as a crowdfunded book for middle grade readers and whose plot revolves around a young girl named September and her adventures in the world of Fairy. From Yetis to a shadow Queen, Valente’s fantasy series is a unique twist on the standard fairy tales that most children know and love.

In the book trailer for The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland, instead of the usual cheesy movie trailers that are so common for many Young Adult authors, there is instead animated pencil sketches, which were created by extremely talented illustrator Ana Juan. The New Age singer/songwriter S.J. Tucker also lends her voice to the trailer with her song “Wonder.”

Together, the whimsical lyrics and lilting voice of S.J. Tucker and Ana Juan’s illustrations create a compelling trailer that urges readers to join September as she makes her way through Fairyland to help her friends regain their rapidly disappearing magic.

So, if you’re looking for a different take on the classic ‘hero saves Fairyland’ trope that can so often be found in legends around the world and in many Young Adult novels, pick up Valente’s Fairyland series for a whimsical look on heroines, magic, and the mystical world of the Fairies.
