“Pixelwood,” 8-bit Versions of Iconic Movie Scenes

Art director Dusan Cezek dabbles in a wide range of creative graphic work. However, Pixelwood might be his most adorable project to date. Turning to the medium of pixel art, Cezek takes scenes from iconic films and turnsthem into mini 8-bit GIFs. While Pixelwood might look like just a cute side-project, there’s something important these pixelated GIFs say about the symbol of movies. For example, it’s interesting that a bright red wig and “multi-pass” automatically make us think of The Fifth Element, the same way two dudes in suits with pistols automatically make us think of Pulp Fiction. Other movies included in the series are The Big Lebowski, The Life Aquatic, Shaun of the Dead, District 9, Total Recall, Fight Club, and more. To view the full gallery go here. Look out for a T-shirt line based on the concept to come out in the future.
