White Hinterland: “Ring The Bell”

It’s been four years since White Hinterland‘s last album Kairos, but the Massachusetts singer is back with a new single, “Ring My Bell.” The song shows off Casey Dienel ‘s vocals with more of a pop and RnB sound than her earlier work. But the track still manages to stay left-of-center with distorted brass, erratic percussion, and an extended instrumental bridge. The song, and its accompanying upcoming album, were recorded at a self-built studio in Dienel’s family home, giving the record a more intimate and personal aesthetic. She says the album focuses on themes of “personal agency, strength, growth, determination…and to get those things is usually fucking terrifying and comes with casualties and loss.”

You can check out the Derrick Belcham-directed lyric video for “Ring The Bell” on YouTube. Baby will be released on April 1st via Dead Oceans, and you can pre-order it here.
