Keath Mead: “Grow Up”

I don’t know too much about Keath Mead other than he’s a singer/songwriter from South Carolina, he spells his name kinda funny, and Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick produced his debut album. But the details aren’t important when the music is this good. Mead has released three songs from his upcoming Sunday Dinner debut, and each of them are little melodic-pop masterpieces. Though Mead’s dreamy vocals and generally chill vibe has some similarities to Toro Y Moi, his music stands on its own. With a simple beat, melodic guitars, and sunshiny hooks and harmonies, “Grow Up” has a classic ’70s rock feel. Not unlike Dent May, the track feels vintage at its core but excitingly fresh on the surface.

Sunday Dinner should be released later this year, so be sure to check out “Polite Refusal,” “Grow Up,” and “Holiday” in anticipation.
