Stunning Watercolor Art by Anders Zorn
Swedish artist Anders Zorn has long been considered by many art historians to be a master at creating stunning watercolor paintings that are light and airy yet still expressive.
Anders Zorn: Sweden’s Master Painter by Johan Cederlund and Hans Hendrik Bummer is the first volume to be written in the English language that explores the life and artwork of this fascinating painter. They explain how he mastered the use of watercolors and eventually applied all of the same techniques to his oil paintings later on in life.
However, Zorn didn’t stay in Sweden—he also spent time in London and Paris as well. While he was residing in those two countries, he began to establish himself as an international portrait painter and became famous for portraying his wealthy clients in a more relaxed manner. Zorn’s fame also brought him American attention. Wealthy American collectors, bankers, and the rest of the crème de la crème of the 1% of that time period positively flocked to his door just for the opportunity to sit for one of his portraits.
In Anders Zorn: Sweden’s Master Painter, the authors also point out that while he’s mostly famous for his portraits, this artist was also quite talented at drawing landscapes as well. However, don’t just take their word for it-click through our gallery and check out Zorn’s work for yourself.
