“El Delirio del Pez León” Is a Noir-Like Gangster Flick with Fish
If the first minute or so of El Delirio del Pez León has you thinking you’re watching a mob film set in the deep sea, you’re not that far off. Amateurishly translated (by me) as The Madness of the Lionfish, the “underwater neo-noir tells a story about greed and hierarchy in the Caribbean reefs”. Mastermind Quique Rivera Rivera keeps the arc simple to focus on the style and atmosphere of gluttony, anthropomorphizing the underworld as well as the dark side of human social structures. Who knew this much extortion and cigar-chomping was going on just a short dive away?
