Play a Time-Traveling Janitor in “The Silent Age”
A lot can happen in 40 years. What was once a comfortable, predictable reality can quickly become an apocalyptic wasteland. At least, that’s what happens in The Silent Age.
As an ordinary janitor in 1972, you come across a man with a warning. You receive a time machine that takes you 40 years into a future when humans have become extinct. You must travel between the two times, leveraging their differences to access new areas and solve puzzles. You’ll interact with your surroundings and collect items to progress, ultimately unlocking the mystery and protecting mankind’s future. The graphics and music are minimalist and discomforting, leaving you largely to your own thoughts as you point and click your way through dark, cartoon-styled 2D scenes. The vibe alone makes the game worth playing; it’s slick and unsettling at the same time.
Episode 1 of The Silent Age is available as a free download for iOS and Android devices. I recommend a big screen and even bigger headphones.
