Oriol Malet Illustrates Characters from Classic Teen Literature
Illustrator Oriol Malet does editorial illustrations for various well-known Spanish publications. His Around the World in 33 Books was done for ARA newspaper, and it features quirky sketches of characters from classics like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Catcher in the Rye, Oliver Twist, and Peter Pan. Malet has a unique and captivating drawing style that’s one part storybook and one part doodle art. But Malet has several identities when it comes to his work. His website—you’ll be surprised how many illustrators have ugly websites; this one is superb—organizes his work into six unique categories, or “personalities.” For example, his children’s illustrations are done by “Ofelia Malet,” a college drop out who lives on gummy bears. All six personalities represent Malet & Co., which you have to admit is a clever concept. Take a peek at his portfolio to see what he’s been working on recently.
